Health Department Schedules Clinics for Back-To-School Immunizations

Greenup, KY: It is time for your child to receive vaccinations as part of your school’s enrollment requirements. The Greenup County Health Department is setting aside a few days to ensure the children of Greenup County are protected.

Kentucky requires all students, Kindergarten through the 12th grade, to have had the Hepatitis A vaccine to be admitted into school. Also, all students 16 years and older must have the second meningococcal booster to be admitted into school.

This service is offered primarily to children that are uninsured, under-insured or if your family doctor does not offer vaccinations.

The dates are August 16, 17, and 18, 7:30am-4:30pm.

Parents will need to make an appointment for their student on these days.

Some things to remember about the Back-To-School vaccination clinics:

      • Child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
      • Some insurances are now accepted to cover (in part or in full) the cost of vaccination. (Call 606-473-9838 to ask about your coverage)
      • Children should be well and have eaten before coming to the clinic.
      • If your child has not been vaccinated at the Health Department, you must bring an updated immunization record to the clinic.
      • If you have Medicaid or insurance, be sure to bring your card.
      • Physicals will not be offered as part of these Clinic days.
