Local Health Department Schedules Clinics for
Back-To-School Vaccinations and Physicals
Greenup, KY, August 1, 2013: It may be time for your child to receive vaccinations or a physical exam as part of your school’s enrollment requirements. The Greenup County Health Department is setting aside a few days to ensure the children of Greenup County are protected. This service is offered particularly to children that are uninsured, under-insured or if your family doctor does not offer vaccinations.
The dates for the Greenup location are: August 7th, 7:30am-4:30pm; August 8th, 7:30am-6:00pm; and August 13th, 7:30am-6pm.
Parents will not need to make an advance appointment for their student on these days. Either show up at the health department that morning at 7:30 or call at that same time to be scheduled for later that day.
In South Shore, the Back-To-School Clinic will be on August 7th and August 8th, 7:45am-4:30pm by appointment.
Connie Wilburn, the Nurse Administrator and Nurse Practitioner for the Greenup County Health Department, said, “Vaccines are important because they are a safe and effective way to protect against serious sometimes fatal diseases and they are one of the most important things that you can do to protect the health of your child.”
Some things to remember about vaccinations:
- Child must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Some insurances are now accepted to cover (in part or in full) the cost of vaccination. (call 606-473-9838 to ask about your coverage)
- Children should be well and have eaten before coming to the clinic.
- If your child has not been vaccinated at the Health Department, you must bring an updated immunization record to the clinic.
