Greenup County Syringe Exchange Program to Begin Operation

Greenup, KY – The Greenup County Health Department will offer a regularly scheduled syringe exchange program on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. The initial start date for the program will be Wednesday, October 11th , 2017.

This needle exchange program is intended to help reduce the risk of Hepatitis C and HIV infection for Greenup County residents. The health department not only hopes to diminish the spread of disease through intravenous drug use, they also intend to reduce the chance of exposure due to dirty needles improperly disposed of throughout the community. The syringe exchange program is free and confidential to all participants.

The needle exchange will be accessible from the rear entrance on the north end of the health department.  Entrance will not be permitted through the rear entrance located in the Health Education Center. Parking will be available in the back of the health department.
